    Oliphantitis! It’s catching…

    Monday, November 10th, 2008

What a great vibe and positive audience at the Stone last friday for what’s really the first proper Oliphant gig ever…  Thanks to everyone who came out and showed their support.  For those of you who couldn’t make it – there’s more to come soon!  Join the list at the bottom of the page and I’ll keep you posted…

Should be a bit of audio and video from this gig sometime soon too.

But for now, it’s off to Mexico for a good friend’s wedding and – me and Sara’s first vacation ever!

I’m soooo psyched about Oliphant’s gig at The Stone this friday!  It’s gonna be hot.  I put up our new track on the Sounds page, so check it out.  Then come to the show.  Seriously.  Do it.  10pm – Fri – Ave C & 2nd St – $10.

James Moore plays the National Steel Guitar, and Duct Tape.

Jen Stock operates the Sampletacular Laptop, Bellhop Bell, and Duct Tape.

Pete Wise (that’s me) on the Drums, Plastic Cutlery, and Duct Tape.

This is why I love the internet…

Dr Zeus w LightSabers vs Twin Musical Tesla Coils

Dr Zeus battles Twin Solid State Musical Tesla coils with LightSabers at the 2007 Lightning on the Lawn Teslathon sponsored by DC Cox (Resonance Research Corp) in Baraboo WI.

The LightSabers are actually standard fluorescent lights, which can be fully illuminated by the energy from the Tesla Coils, without wires.

Dr Zeus is standing on an insulating plastic sheet, which forces the energy to emerge as sparks from his feet to get to earth ground.

The music that you hear is coming from the sparks generated by the Tesla coils, not speakers. The Tesla coils are 7 feet tall, 18 feet apart, and can put out over 12 foot sparks. A laptop computer sends midi commands to the coils via fiber optic link. These coils were constructed by Steve Ward and Jeff Larson.

    Sooooooo geeky.  But soooooo cool.
